Autorefractometry is a method of computer diagnostics for the detection of blurred eye refraction. Both adults and children can be examined if there is a suspicion of blurred eye refraction. It allows to determine the degree of farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism, and to monitor the healing process after surgery.
The process takes a few minutes and is completely painless. A man sits in front of the refractometer machine and puts his chin on a stand and look at the displayed image. Device affect the retina by directed light, which reflectes from the fundus and is fixed by sensors.
Autorefractometry helps to determine visual acuity and assign the appropriate corrective optics. In addition, it's often applied before laser vision correction or other operations on eyes.
