UHF- therapy

UHF-therapy

UHF-therapy is a type of electrotherapy that uses an ultra-high-frequency electromagnetic field. The treatment area is placed between electrode plates (capacitor-type) connected to a UHF generator: the field penetrates the tissue, some of the energy is absorbed, and triggers therapeutic effects—reduced inflammation and pain, improved microcirculation and nutrition.

How the procedure is performed:

  • Patient position: Sitting or lying down—depending on the treatment area and patient's well-being.
  • Access: Treatment can be applied directly to the skin, through clothing, and even through a plaster cast (depending on the technique).
  • Electrodes: are sized to suit the affected area and secured at a safe distance from the skin.
  • Dosage: The physician sets the power level based on the patient's indications. Sensations range from no heat (athermic dose) to light/moderate heat (oligothermic/thermal), without burning or pain.
  • Time and course: Usually 5–15 minutes per session, a course of 6–12 treatments daily or every other day (individually).

Indications:

  • Skin and soft tissues: Inflammatory processes, including purulent foci (according to the rules and under the supervision of a physician).
  • Musculoskeletal system: Arthritis, periarthritis, myositis, bursitis, consequences of injury.
  • Respiratory system: Sinusitis, otitis, bronchitis, pneumonia in the subacute stage.
  • Peripheral nervous system: neuritis, neuralgia, radiculopathy.
  • Gastrointestinal tract: gastroduodenitis, cholecystitis, colitis outside of exacerbation, functional pain.
  • Gynecology: inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs (as indicated).

Contraindications:

  • Acute generalized inflammatory diseases with high fever.
  • Malignant neoplasms of any localization.
  • Decompensated circulatory disorders, exacerbation of cardiovascular pathologies.
  • Pregnancy (especially early pregnancy).
  • Thrombophlebitis and active venous thrombi.
  • Severe individual sensitivity to UHF radiation.
